Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 26 (ANI/NewsVoir): Spantech Engineers Pvt. Ltd. recently partnered with DRDO to install a 250 L/min oxygen concentrator at Chiktan Community Health Center in Kargil.
The facility can accommodate up to 50 seriously ill patients. The station’s capacity will allow 30 medical institutions to fully meet their oxygen needs. Spantech engineers also installed another 250 L/min oxygen concentrator at CHC District Nubra Medical Center.
Spantech Engineers Pvt. Ltd. was commissioned by the Defense Bioengineering and Electrical Generators Laboratory (DEBEL) of the DRDO Life Sciences Division to install 2 PSA units to provide much-needed medical oxygen in the highlands of the Kargil Nubra Valley, Chiktan Village and Ladakh.
Delivering oxygen tanks to remote areas such as the village of Chiktang during the COVID oxygen crisis has been a challenge. Therefore, DRDO was given the task of installing oxygen plants in remote areas of the country, especially near the border. These oxygen plants were designed by DRDO and funded by PM CARES. On October 7, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened almost all such factories.
Raj Mohan, NC, Managing Director of Spantech Engineers Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are honored to be a part of this incredible initiative spearheaded by DRDO through PM CARES as we continue to help secure the supply of pure medical oxygen across the country.”
Chiktan is a small border village about 90 kilometers from the city of Kargil with a population of less than 1300 people. Located at an altitude of 10,500 feet above sea level, the village is one of the most inaccessible places in the country. The Nubra Valley is a popular tourist destination in Kargil. Although the Nubra Valley is more densely populated than Chiketan, it is at an altitude of 10,500 degrees above sea level, which makes logistics very difficult.
Spantech’s oxygen generators greatly reduce these hospitals’ current reliance on oxygen tanks, which are difficult to get to these remote areas, especially during times of shortage.
Spantech Engineers, pioneers in PSA oxygen production technology, have also installed such plants in remote and border areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Spantech Engineers is an engineering, manufacturing and service company founded in 1992 by alumni of IIT Bombay. He has been at the forefront of much-needed innovation with powerful gas generation solutions and pioneered the production of oxygen, nitrogen and ozone power plants using PSA technology.
The company has come a long way from producing compressed air systems to integrating into PSA nitrogen systems, PSA/VPSA oxygen systems and ozone systems.
